Ami Atchison Just Won Indiana’s Toughest Award – Here’s Why We’re Not Surprised

Five years ago, Ami Atchison walked through the door at In Good Company. Last week, she walked across a stage to accept the 2025 Assistant Property Manager of the Year award from the Indiana Apartment Association. Here’s why we can’t wait to share why we’re so thrilled.

First, at In Good Company (IGC), we pride ourselves on not only building exceptional multifamily communities, but lasting relationships grounded in trust, innovation, and unwavering dedication to quality and care. Which means this isn't just a win for Ami, it's a testament to the heart and hustle that define our team. Her performance and award align perfectly with IGC's ethos of Real Hospitality and have helped us win the 2023 IAA Management Company of the Year, our third win in this category.

Ami’s talents, a cornerstone of IGC’s excellence, helps elevate properties across Northwest Indiana. In a role that demands extreme multi-tasking, she consistently overachieves. She once inherited a community with 40+ vacancies and a waiting list of zero. Today? Fully leased and an actual waiting list. Residents call her by name in the hallway. Maintenance techs fight to be on her team. And somehow, she still finds time to make every new resident feel like they’re coming home to family.

But let's talk about the award itself, which draws fierce competition across Indiana. The IAA's Assistant Property Manager of the Year is part of the organization's renowned Gold Medallion Awards, which are legendary in multifamily circles. Think ‘Oscars,’ but with rent rolls instead of red carpets. The Assistant Property Manager category requirements are especially brutal. Judges comb through occupancy gains, resident survey scores, teammate testimonials, and real-world impact. Very few make the finalist list. Even fewer go home with the trophy.

And Ami didn’t just win. She dominated.

We should share that the field of nominees is huge, with hundreds of submissions narrowed down to a handful of finalists. Past recipients have gone on to shape the future of property management in corporate leadership roles, and the award carries weight that opens doors to mentorship, speaking engagements, and significant promotion within IAA. To put this in context, the IAA is part of a larger organization that represents over 1,000 member companies managing more than 200,000 apartment homes statewide. Ami's victory places her among an elite group of trailblazers who've redefined what it means to serve with passion and precision.

Ami, your win inspires us all and reinforces that at IGC, being In Good Company starts with great people like you who turn the "impossible" into "incredible." Thank you and congratulations!
